I learned so much about not only teaching english, but about teaching in general, classroom management, and general life. As a certified teacher in the US, I added so much to my tool belt from this course, even after going to school for teaching for the past 7 years. The staff is incredible and they truly want to see you succeed and more. I felt supported every step of the way without a doubt.

I found my home here and I thank Costa Rica TEFL for it. If it wasn’t for this opportunity, I would’ve never ended up in Sámara, I would’ve never met the people that I have grown to love and admire, I would’ve never found my passion job, I would’ve never been able to travel like I have been, and I would’ve never grown into the person that I am today— happy, fulfilled, passionate more than ever and living my best life.

Samara, CR is a beautiful beach town and I really enjoyed living there for the month-long course. I met some lifelong friends through this experience.

I will always remember my time in Samara. It is such a rewarding experience helping the locals improve their Spanish.

I cannot say enough good things about this program, the staff, and the bonding moments I had with my peers.

All of the staff are always well prepared, encouraging, and knowledgeable on the content. For my November/December class, Eleanor and Chantal were both so helpful and thorough in providing relevant and useful information into our classes every single day. Everything they taught us was applicable to what we were doing in our own teaching practice. They were always sure to make themselves available to us for any questions or concerns and really guided us graciously along the way. We received a great deal of information in a short 4 weeks, and the teacher trainers did a phenomenal job on preparing us throughout the weeks with extensive reviews and practice of concepts. We all felt confident by exam day. Alexis was our admin coordinator and she was a great support as well! She helped in any area any of us struggled in whether it be tech issues, printer malfunctions, setting up for classes, needing extra materials, or creating our online portfolios. There was never a time in my 4 weeks that I felt alone, which I really admire about the Costa Rica TEFL program. Also, don’t forget that they give you life long job assistance, which is an incredible resource!

The experience to live in Costa Rica amongst the locals all while getting certified to teach English was a priceless experience. The team at TEFL Costa Rica helps set up your living accommodations and makes the process so easy and hassle free. It definitely gave me peace of mind knowing I had a great support system if I needed any help in or out of the classroom setting! Getting to teach and interact with people in the community was such a valuable experience as well!

If you are on the fence about it, I would 100% encourage you to take a leap of faith with this program! It was by far the best decision I have made for myself, and it has opened up a whole world of possibilities that I would not have known about prior to taking the course.

The teacher trainers are extremely knowledgeable, and the curriculum is well developed. Although there is an established curriculum, the teacher trainers were able to cater to the different learning styles of individual teachers when needed. The small class sizes with the fellow teachers allowed for a great, balanced ratio between teachers and teacher trainers. The teacher trainers provided me with all the valuable resources I needed as well as the tools to help build my confidence as I taught and prepared my lesson plans.

The level of job placement assistance and interview process support that I was provided was very beneficial. Even now, as I am in my teaching career, the school continues to provide support whenever needed. The course was intensive (in a positive way), but fun and fulfilling.

The founding director, Barbara Miller, has structured the course/program in a way that allows you as a teacher flexibility, guidance, and ample support from not only the teacher trainers but your fellow teachers too. It’s different from traditional learning styles in the best way, and you learn about yourself as well as the course.
