Taking this TEFL certification course has been one of the best decision I’ve ever made! I have met so many wonderful people and classmates. The class itself is intensive—there’s a lot of material to get through—but they make it so interesting that’s it’s over before you know it.

A very big thanks to our trainer Chris, he made the course (even the grammar classes) so engaging and useful for all of us. I hope to absorb some of his techniques into my own teaching style.

My practice teaching sessions were a very important part of the course. Vantage’s trainers gave me invaluable feedback after each of my practice sessions. This is where I started to develop my own classroom teaching skills. The trainers are very keen to help you succeed and will always go the extra mile for you. They are knowledgeable about the classroom from their years of teaching experience. They also make learning engaging and fun.

There’s a separate and dedicated Vantage trainer for the resume writing and interview techniques portion of the course. All the information he gave was extremely beneficial. While I choose to go back home country and teach at our family school, many of my classmates were getting interviews and landing jobs right after the course was completed.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to be a professional English teacher, this is the place to do it!

The TEFL course at Vantage for me is a must if you want to gain the confidence and knowledge required to teach in Thailand. Chris, the lead trainer, has a wealth knowledge and over two decades of experience to pass on over the four week period.

The six hours of observed practice teaching, along with the lesson planning, the self-evaluations and the expert feedback I got after each session was a huge benefit to my overall training of what is needed to become a professional teacher. Vantage like to say that new teachers are born in the classroom and I now know why that’s so true.

Kevin, their Jobs Coach, helped immensely in providing us with the tools to use our newly required teaching skills in the real world. Both teachers are willing to put extra time and effort into the students to turn them into professional and competent ESL teachers of the future.

I graduated from Vantage TEFL on the Friday and I had an interview and got a subsequent job offer the following Monday. I truly couldn’t have got a quicker interview if I tried. This was mainly due to agreement Vantage has with top schools leading teacher placement agencies. And the Power Resume and other job tools created for me during the course.

I would recommend without hesitation this course to anyone who is considering becoming a teacher in Thailand.

Vantage TEFL was a great experience. The trainers were exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly, and their training facility was very easy to access from the MRT train system.

The course itself was exceptionally well taught. The lead trainer, Chris, has over two decades of teaching experience and the wealth of information he imparts in every single class adds a whole new dimension to the prescribed textbook.

The teacher practicum portion of the course is the heart of the certification. It started in the second week of training and by the final practice session it knew I had acquired professional foundation as a language teacher. I’m 100% confident on my abilities to successfully teach English.

Additionally, the job placement services I got were excellent. I sat down with Kevin, their Jobs Coach, and created a Power Resume and supporting documentation like cover and thank you letters. In my last week, they even lined up interviews for me so I literally hit the ground running immediately after graduation.

The bottom line for me is that after completing this course, I now feel I have the skill set to walk into any classroom anywhere and thrive as a great teacher..

I would highly recommend Vantage’s approach to teaching training to anyone who’s serious about teaching on a highly professional level.

This note is to address the highly professional school of the Vantage TEFL in Bangkok Thailand. As part of my research in obtaining a TEFL designation, so that I could teach English to students in their second language acquisition, they rose to the top of my choice list very quickly.

Their professionalism and conduct consistently surpassed my expectations in their one month TEFL training learning course!

I learned a lot about teaching theory from their curriculum. But it was particularly in the observed teaching practices—where theory meets the classroom—that my new teacher skills were born. After each observed teaching practice, I was given excellent feedback from the trainers that showed me where I was strong and, at the same time, challenged me in areas where I still needed development.

I would highly recommend this course to any individual considering obtaining an English teaching language certification as well as making life-long friends. Their teaching commitment is absolute and their business networking is top-of-the-line!

After graduation, Vantage’s powerful networking resource landing me interviews with leading recruiting companies in Thailand, helping me achieve a competitive advantage in the teaching marketplace. My goal is to teach in Thailand first, with a possible global reach in the future.  For that I thank them very much. 

In my book, ‘Going Forward’—the basis of my Keynote speaking regime—one absolute I’ve consistently advanced is that we must walk before we run in any avenue of life. Vantage’s program defines just that!

The consistent excellent reviews don’t lie! I have worked in the US public education system as a teacher/administrator for over 20 years. I was always interested in branching out my career to teaching English abroad and knew I needed TEFL certification to do this. Bangkok offers several choices of TEFL programs. I read all the reviews and contacted the schools. Kevin, Vantage’s program director, responded immediately with information on my questions regarding accommodation options, travel and their program. I felt at ease and confident I was making the right decision to choose Vantage for my certification.

As a veteran teacher, I have been exposed to many different models of teaching methods. The ESA (Engage, Study, Activate) approach which Vantage implements is incredibly teacher and student friendly. Lessons were easy to create and adapted to the specific needs of the class of students. I feel this would hold true for teachers with little or no teaching experience – very straightforward.

Chris, the lead trainer is incredibly knowledgeable of all aspects of teaching English. Any questions or concerns I had regarding my lessons or material presented in class were answered very thoroughly yet easy to understand. Because the course is only four weeks, it is very intense. (At times I did feel overwhelmed) . Chris kept the lessons engaging, meaningful and fun. I certainly was never bored! He really helped me change the way I thought about teaching in a positive way.

Another fantastic aspect of Vantage is I was able to implement my lessons with real students at a nursing college. I saw first hand how effective the ESA method works. Students were very excited (and so fun to work with). They spoke English throughout the lessons, though they were at an A1/A2 level of English – very basic. The experience was incredibly rewarding.

Finally, I have been using my same resume (with periodic updates) for many years. Kevin helped me to create a “power resume” including a video and cover letter. My new resume highlights my strengths and is so much stronger and effective. Kevin also went over interviewing and tips to consider, which I never thought of before. I feel very confident to apply and interview for teaching jobs abroad now!

A side note, which I’m surprised I didn’t see mentioned in other reviews is the school and recommended apartment where I stayed are located in a prime area – surrounded by wonderful cafes, food markets, shopping centers, a movie theater etc., all within a 10-15 minute walking distance. The area is incredibly safe, inexpensive and fun. I could have happily stayed there another month or longer if I had planned to interview after the course.

The Vantage experience helped renew my excitement about education and the endless possible opportunities of teaching English abroad. The course absolutely receives my highest recommendation for TEFL certification.

I chose to study with Vantage TEFL due to their unique offering of the combined course which allowed me to complete the practice teaching component during 2 weeks of annual leave from my existing unrelated employment.

Kevin and Chris were very accommodating in the course (given that all the other students were completing the in class only course) and allowed me the flexibility to choose which sessions I’d like to attend with the other students – as I had already fully completed the theoretical component online.

The teaching practice was PHENOMENAL! Whilst the class sizes were smaller than anticipated, I was extremely happy at the opportunity to put my lesson plans into practice and see the real life application of my online learning.

Having gone through the combined course, I believe I was sensible with my decision as it allowed me the flexibility to study where and when I wanted but still receive the same high quality qualification.

I would have no hesitations in recommending Vantage TEFL to anyone considering such a qualification and the practical exposure offered in a course like this offers unparalleled experience to any alternative offered solely online.

The course was excellent and the Vantage instructors and staff were professional and friendly. Chris, the main course instructor was knowledgable in the grammar review, assisted in developing our classroom management skills, gave one to one help with lesson plans as well as offered helpful feedback for the teaching practicum.

Kevin offered some great on the ground knowledge of local area of Bangkok which was helpful to many in my class. Kevin also presented a a few lectures on resume building and the job interviewing/ job search success. He was dedicated to helping the students move on from the course to finding a job.

Overall, the course was a good experience, and I would highly recommend it if you are interested.

Vantage TEFL certification is a class organization. I worked with Kevin via email about the specifics of Vantage’s program from the US. He gave me all the necessary information to get me to Thailand and enrolled in the course effortlessly.

Once in the course it was apparent to me the Vantage program is thorough and dynamic. We learned about what teaching EFL involves and reviewed English basics. I liked the way we alternated between the two. Chris, the lead trainer for much of the course, is incredibly versed in all the topics introduced. His whiteboard work is filed in my personal reference library of photos because he offers shortcuts and mnemonic devices to remember things (like verb tenses). Also, his in-class teacher observation feedback is detailed and he always gives praise when improvement is made between the observed teacher practice teaching sessions. To top it off he has a good sense of humor so the class flows along nicely with a few laughs between and during unit teaching.

That brings me to the teacher practicum portion of the course. We did 6 observed teacher lessons at a nursing college. This was the centerpiece of the certification in my opinion. It started the second week of training so I had almost instant experience in the classroom. By the final one you had a picture of what teaching and teaching EFL was all about. I would never have been able to get in front of class without an experience like this. It was like Speech class from High School but you are teaching a lesson and getting instant feedback when the students have learned a thing or two.

Kevin is also a trainer for the resume writing and interview techniques portion of the course. This information was excellent as it is geared toward finding a teaching position in Thailand which he knows a lot about. Like Chris he is a wealth of information about teaching English, Thailand, travel and of course global popular culture.

This was an indelible experience.

I came to Vantage TEFL primarily to get a certificate with from a school with outside accreditations. Though I already had success as a teacher I also wanted to learn best teaching practices for teaching students learning English as a second language. I also figured a brush up on grammar would help though I’ve had recent classes in technical writing and business communications.

The course was quite insightful on all levels. I learned how to construct lesson plans on my own and discovered many ways to improve my existing skills. They emphasized the ESA method as a smart and more effective that the techniques I had had been using before and I will continue to use this technique moving forward.

Many schools I taught at before had no material and no course plan. Beyond the learning experience, Vantage give students a vast database of teaching books, worksheets, video and other materials that will be a big head start next time I work for a newer school.

Another big help on the job front are the pictures and videos of me teaching a real class. I can show these to prospective employers and point out my pictures that I agreed to have posted online. The fact that the practice teaching is done in a real nursing college will also be impressive to any interviewer. This will be far more persuasive than interviewing with an online earned certificate with which requires no real practical teaching experience to acquire.

I attained world class teaching experience from an internationally recognized school. Vantage supplied volumes of additional books and networking recourse. As a result of Vantages astute methods, time proven techniques, and expertise in job placement, I already had a full time teaching job only days after finishing the course. I can’t imagine a more satisfying experience.

Vantage TEFL was a challenging and rewarding experience. I was able to receive the right tools to create effective lesson plans for all age groups. The observed teaching practice was extremely helpful and I found myself improving every lesson through my own evaluations and the feedback provided from the course instructors. I am confident that the ideas and habits I have formed in this course will stay with me throughout my teaching career.
