The one and only Language House TEFL in Prague is one of the most popular and beloved TEFL certification companies in the world. With over 20 years in operation, many of their staff have been working for the organization for over a decade. Since its establishment, TLH has strived to create a TEFL certification school that not only includes some of the most rigorous training possible, but also all of the logistical and community support for their graduates to thrive. As of 2024, they have graduated over 3000 successful teachers from their program.

The Language House TEFL is not just a training center, but a network of staff and graduates in Prague and abroad who help and support each other years after graduation. When you sign up for The Language House TEFL, you are not just getting a TEFL certificate; you are entering into a supportive community of staff and graduates who become almost like a second family. This support includes making friends abroad, finding jobs, support with accommodation, and everything in between to aid in your success.

This is one of the more intensive courses you can find. Their website and socials are filled with pics of their trainees having fun in their new home, but make no mistake, The Language House TEFL is an extremely rigorous course. After completion, you will graduate a skilled and competent teacher. They also offer online and blended TEFL courses for those who cannot make it to Prague.

The Language House and it’s staff gives their perspective ESL teachers a fantastic foundation to start their lives here in the Czech Republic. I feel like, as a graduate of the Language House, I was more than prepared to start teaching in any scenario a school could throw at me. The team of observers they have in Prague gives quality feedback on lesson plans and general teaching tips to help teachers, from beginners to well seasoned professors, a good idea of what it’s like to teach in an ESL environment.

I’d highly recommend The Language House to anyone looking to teach English in Europe.

The Language House was hands down the best decision for moving abroad. They were so helpful with everything! They arranged airport pick up, tours, welcome weekends. Everything you could imagine doing they did! The course was very intense and demanding but so helpful. Being a certified teacher I figured I would know some of the information being taught. I was mistaken! Teaching english was a whole different ball game and the language house did a superb job of instructing. The community that you gain from this program is honestly one of the best parts of the deal. I have made many friends here that I couldn’t imagine not having. Also, Chris gives back to his students all the time. He is a very kind human and will do anything to help you succeed! And did I mention that the course was an absolute blast? You will be laughing all day, everyday!

The Language House TEFL is a great program set up to provide everything you need for a life in TEFL and beyond.

Like everyone else looking into going abroad to teach English, I had a lot of questions and fears about living and working in a foreign country.

From the start, founder/director Chris Westergaard and the staff answer questions, put you at ease about this big decision, and really prepare you to teach English.

The programme is intensive and comprehensive. You will learn the ins-and-outs of grammar as well as teaching. It’s rigorous, but designed to prepare you for when you start your TEFL career.

The staff are all knowledgable and experienced TEFL teachers who provide invaluable experience as well as teaching materials. Everyone at the Language House is approachable and patient, and understand the endless questions and concerns people have about the programme and living in Prague.

Another perk is the city of Prague itself. There really is nothing like it. Beautiful architecture, great beer, affordability, and an indescribable charm.

Three years into living in Prague, I can say with confidence that The Language House TEFL set me up for the great life that I’m living now.

The Language House was very helpful and through it I was able to find several teaching jobs in Prague and “make it” overseas. The teachers are wonderful and the course is the appropriate amount of challenging.

I came to Prague on an adventure that needed to be sustainable, and The Language House definitely made that possible. The teachers and observers offer extremely valuable information and demonstration for how to teach English properly. Not only is the experience useful for staying financially afloat, is it also an incredibly fun time. I learned how to properly conduct a classroom and what it takes to create intriguing lessons; and I have made friends with people from all over the world. If you strive to improve as a language teacher and feel like embarking on your own journey, then The Language House in Prague is the right place for you.

The Language House came highly recommended from a friend of mine who took the course. However, I was still very nervous about leaving my life in the states for such a new experience. After my first day at the Language House I knew I had made the right decision. Chris and the fellow teachers at The Language House knew exactly how to motivate and mold each student to adequately prepare them for life after the course. I feel confident in my ability to be a successful English teacher no matter the country, thanks to The Language House.

I attended the Language House in June 2015 and I am very happy that I made the decison to go. The staff is great and knowledgable and you can really tell that they loved their work. Going in I had no teaching experience outside of tutoring, and by the end I was confident walking into to any interview or classroom. At first I was a bumbling mess in front of the practice class, by the end I felt like a highly trained teaching-ninja. The class was very well done, and it is very meta, meaning that the methods they teach you with are also the methods that you will use to teach. The help they give you sorting out your visas and finding jobs is also great. I currently hold a position that they pointed me towards.

On top of all of this, you meet great people, they really do make you feel at home. The graduates and instructors are great sources of information about living and working pretty much anywhere in the world. I recommend this school to anyone who wants to teach abroad whole-heartedly.

I completed the TEFL course at The Language House in July 2015 and it was an overall wonderful experience. It was an intensive course, but by the end of it, I felt confident in my ability to teach English. The support of the staff before, throughout and after the course is incredible. I can highly recommend it to everyone!

I took the TEFL course at TLH over a year ago, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. Since then, I’ve been very successful at finding employment in Prague in a variety of teaching opportunities (including language schools, high schools, middle schools, kindergartens, private lessons, etc). TLH is great because it actually does prepare you for teaching. I came into the program having never taught anything before, and by the end of the course’s four weeks, I felt extremely comfortable with the material and how to use it in a classroom setting. The teaching of actual Czech students is by far the most important part of TLH’s program, and they make sure you get PLENTY of practice. Yes, it can be difficult and a bit scary, but the staff is very supportive and helpful throughout the whole process. Not only do they prepare you for work, but TLH also has an alumni that I haven’t seen developed in any other TEFL course – and I know lots of people who were certified through other programs. This is great because it gives you an immediate home away from home, which is essential when living in an unfamiliar city abroad. I highly recommend TLH to anyone who is considering TEFL, especially if you want to live and work in Prague!

The Language House TEFL not only provided an unparalleled education, they also created an amazing community in Prague. The community is incredible and there is something for everyone. From the many outdoor activities they host, to the exceptional connections they help to foster, there is always something going and someone new and exciting to meet. The social atmosphere is amazing and I definitely recommend it.
