Deciding to get my TEFL certificate from The Language House was easily one of the best decisions I have made. The course not only provided interesting, relevant, and engaging material, it do in such a way that I felt confident and prepared for teaching afterwards. The lesson planning and considerable amount of student teaching was at times challenging, but I wouldn’t have had it any other other way. The student groups were varied and they certainly prepared us for the many challenges that could arise when teaching. This course was definitely worth it.

This course was really good preparation for teaching in Prague. We really came out of the course knowing all necessary grammar, with more student teaching hours than most of our peers, and with a real sense of how to plan creative and engaging lessons instead of just reading straight through a textbook. Another big benefit is the community that forms at THL, which continues to be fostered even after you graduate!

The Language House more than prepared me for teaching in the real world. Not only is this true, their staff has made transitioning to Prague (getting a job, flat and Visa figured out) a breeze.

Definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to take on living abroad. Prague is a wonderful city as well.

I took The Language House course in July of 2012 and I’ve been happily living in Prague ever since! If you’re considering moving abroad to teach English, I couldn’t recommend this course more. The Language House really prepared me for what I would experience as an actual teacher. Not only did I learn the techniques and methods for becoming an English teacher, but the time I spent teaching actual Czech students throughout the course really helped me to become more comfortable and confident in front of the classroom. They also provided a resume building workshop along with posting job opportunities daily which was so helpful!

While the course itself was incredible, I think the community The Language House provides is life changing. So many of the closest friends I have here in Prague are past graduates of the course and it really does feel like a family. Without The Language House, it’s safe to say that I wouldn’t have stayed in Prague nearly as long as I have. The people I’ve met through this course and through this experience have made Prague feel like home.

Living abroad has changed me forever and this course was awesome. I highly recommend it!!

In November 2014 I nervously enrolled in The Language House’s TEFL program. When I arrived in Prague I was quickly introduced to the huge and friendly community that is The Language House, which made my transition to living abroad so much easier and more comfortable.

The TEFL course itself is a grueling four week process that leaves you tired and overwhelmed, but well prepared none the less. As someone with absolutely no teaching experience, the first weak of practice was a rough one; full of sweat and tears. The tutors at The Language House will critique you, give you feed back, and tools, but it is up to you to continue to develop them. This course will give you all the tools you need to be a successful teacher in a fun and interactive way, but what makes it truly unique is the support they give you afterwards.

I finished the Language House TEFL course this May, and I’m so very grateful for the experience I have had so far. The course was well organized and the staff was very helpful. I have worked in various types of jobs in the past, but this course helped me learn a lot of new things about myself and how to present myself professionally. The Language House prepared me to be able to teach in all kinds of environments: preschools, businesses and public courses. The course is incredibly thorough and equips students to become experts in the field. Teaching in Prague has opened my eyes to a new culture, new people, and a new way of living. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking for an intensive training, connection to great jobs and people, and a huge community of expat teachers that can make living abroad enjoyable and easier.

After doing a ton of research on potential schools to attend for TEFL training in Prague, I finally settled on The Language House. I’m really glad I did.

I’ll be honest: The course is extremely challenging and demands focus… in fact, you won’t have time for much else even though they make sure to plan fun activities and events for the class throughout the month-long training.

The school is right in the middle of the historic center and Student Housing is both comfortable and only 4 tram stops away from the school and pretty much anything you’ll want to check out during the course in terms of sightseeing.

The instructors are knowledgable, helpful throughout the process, and work hard to make sure you understand not only the methodology, but that you can put it to effective use in a classroom setting.

The opportunity to teach practice lessons (with real students!) while at the school is invaluable and the feedback you get from your observers helps you to really work on a solid base before you go out into the world. You also get more teaching time than at any other school I looked at. Coming up with lessons that are both interesting and entertaining is no easy task, but The Language House drills these concepts into you by utilising the structures and functions themselves so, in a sense, you’re learning to teach simply by being taught. Pretty slick!

I took the YLT (Young Learners Training) which, in my opinion, is an invaluable addition to your training and earns you an additional certificate. The course instructor has loads of experience and is both insightful and available to you even after your class ends.

Another great aspect is the Alumni network. You’re connected with TLH grads by the school right away, so your list of friends and allies in the Czech Republic instantly grows exponentially, not to mention all of the great people you’ll meet in your own class. There were 26 people in mine and all of them are awesome.

The school can also help you navigate the tricky Visa process, get you set up with the Živno if you need it (don’t worry, they’ll explain everything) and they can even help you find housing after the course!

There are a lot of schools and a lot of options out there. I can’t judge the other schools but what I can tell you is this: Attending TLH might be the best decision you make before you land in Prague.

Best of luck to you and, if you do choose The Language House, I have one more piece of advice: Make yourself VERY familiar with the Grammar Review packet they send you right away. It’ll make your life SO much easier.

I had a blast with The Language House. The course was challenging but there is someone to support you through every step. I really feel like I learned a lot during the month and I’m certainly a better teacher after taking this course. Luckily the help doesn’t end there, TLH will help you find a job, housing, and help you get adjusted to life in Prague. I would highly recommend this course to anyone trying to teach in Prague.

I came to Prague clueless and witless about how to survive. Thanks to The Language House, and particularly the alumni network, I found work immediately, learned how to make it in a new city, and made lifelong friends. The best decision you can make!
