I first came to Europe back in 2013 when i studied abroad in Germany. When I returned home following that trip I immediately decided I wanted to go back to Europe and live there indefinitely. I’ve always thought there was something romantic about being an expat in a foreign country. I first heard about The Language House from a friend who did the program not long after returning to the States. After 2.5 years of saving, here I am finding myself in Prague using the The Language House TEFL course as the vehicle to do that. I completed the course in September 2015. I can easily say That Chris Westergaard and company do an excellent job preparing students to be english teachers in an ever expanding world. On top of the informative lectures, the near daily teaching practice, and overall shenanigans, The Language House does a great job making sure that the students stay interested in the material as well as provide general recreation. From hikes in “the nature” to parties at breweries. I can honestly say that getting my TEFL certification is one of the best things I’ve ever done with my life and that wouldn’t be possible without The Language House.

I had an incredible month with The Language House. I crammed over pivos, lesson planned between visits to 15th century towers, and, ultimately, learned how to teach English as a foreign language. TLH gives its students great facilities, job guidance, and training. As others have said, it’s a challenging course, but it’s a course worth taking. If you do your homework and send out your CV, you should have no trouble finding a job in the Golden City.

The Langauge House was a not only an excellent teacher preparation course, but also a great way to transition into expat life. I learned countless valuable skills from our many hours spent directly in the classroom and it gave me the confidence to be the teacher I am today. I also appreciated all of the resources and networking opportunities provided by the course and its helpful staff.

I was 30 years old and still living at home with my parents when I decided to up and leave to Prague (I had saved up $ bartending and working at the local GameStop). I have many friends who have been to Prague and they’ve all had nothing but the best things to say about it: the architecture, the nightlife, the sights, the works.

I’ve always considered teaching because I thought I’d be good at it and plus I used to work in a daycare. Kids have always gotten along famously with me especially, I guess because I’m a child at heart.

I went through The Language House to get my Teach English As a Foreign Language certificate, and even an extension Young Learners and Teens certificate. I knew there would be countless challenges, like getting a visa and an apartment and groceries, things I’ve never had to do in my life. But this school was there for me every step of the way. The staff became an extension of my family and my classmates my best friends.

They made me feel at home here, and that has meant the world to me. You should do what I did and up and leave. I’m living the dream.

I took the course a number of months back, and I’m really glad I did. Not only did it help to grow my social circle, but also increased my job prospects tenfold.

There are a bunch of reasons to take a TEFL in Prague. Prague is beautiful, TLH is right in Old town, they take you on tons of trips and there are a lot of alumni events and networking opportunities.

TLH is a great company and has a solid reputation in Prague.

The Language House provides an intensive course requiring a lot of hard work, but which is completely worth it for the preparation it gives you to go out and start teaching. With what I learned in the course and the practice teaching it provides, I felt ready and comfortable to go out and teach. The staff is all knowledgeable, friendly, and very willing to help. The large network of alums is a great resource and a huge bonus to the course. Beyond teaching, The Language House provided help that made finding a job and getting housing in a foreign country easy and painless as possible. I recommend the course to anyway looking to teach English as a foreign language.

Despite applying to the course at the last minute (less than 3 weeks before the course began) The Language House assisted me in every possible way when moving to Prague. Myself and another student were placed in an apartment with great transport links and a wide variety of nightlife nearby.

The course itself was outstanding. Our instructors knew the TEFL-business inside out and had an enormous array of tips they’d picked up over the years to help us along. Despite struggling with some parts of the course I was given a lot of extra assistance that helped me understand teaching and gave me a much-needed confidence boost.

Starting in the second week of the course we had to plan and give a lesson to real students every evening. Being thrown in the deep end like that was intimidating but this method works well and I’m grateful for it.

Prague itself is an amazing city and The Language House do everything they can to help settle in. There’s a large network of established teachers here that went on this course so you’ll never feel overwhelmed by this.

If I have one regret it’s not doing enough research on Prague and CZ before I came here. My view of it as a standard Eastern European, ex-communist country was proved wrong at every opportunity. Great place, great course.

I took the TEFL course at the Language house this past August of 2015. It was a tedious month, but fully prepared me to be a great English teacher. The staff was very helpful in their feedback throughout the course and when learning to prepare lessons for classes. If you are looking for a way to meet new people and want to be an English teacher you can’t go wrong with attending the Language House- Prague!

Without the Language House I would probably be back in America (my personal nightmare!!). TLH has been my rock in Prague – helped me find a job, make my first friends, and secure my visa. Even two years after completing the course I still find TLH to be a common thread in my everyday life. I’ve learned a skill that I can take all around the world and I’ve had a lot of fun perfecting it. I recommend this program to anyone interested in teaching abroad and spending some quality time in the most beautiful and magical city in the world. Taking this course was the perfect boost to my “new life” abroad and definitely gave me the confidence to succeed as both a teacher and a human being in general. 5 stars!
