I completed the 120 hour online course and I really enjoyed the course. I enjoyed learning and it made me feel like I was back at school as I was learning something new. A suggestion I would like to make is to include in the course how to teach someone or a child who has really low level English. The staff were extremely helpful if I had any questions to ask.

The course was fully comprehensive and was presented in an easy to follow format. The instructions were for each section were understandable and well present, enabling the candidate to progess through the section with confidence. The feedback from the assessors was very helpful and thorough. The speed at which they responded was excellent, you had your results and remarks sometimes within hours. The help desk were also first class and very professional. The whole experience was very rewarding and has enabled me to take work that I won’t have otherwise had.

I have been a TEFL teacher in Vietnam for over 4 years. I took this course to update my teaching practices. I was honestly surprised how much I learned. Many new techniques to both making my daily teaching plans as well as an overall approach to getting the students more involved and more motivated to learn English. Most beneficial to me was the instructor feedback that I received. Some modules I had to re-do since the instructor felt that I needed more detail and more specifics. This was very helpful. This is not a “rubber-stamp” type of course. You need to study the materials presented but by doing so, you will also learn a lot. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to be a TEFL teacher or would like to “update” their current teaching methods.

I had a positive experience with my i-to-i tefl internship to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam from August 2013 to January 2014.

I enrolled for the 140 hour course which involves 120 hours online and the final 20 hours doing practical teaching to fellow course members in Vietnam under the guidance of a good, experienced EFL teacher.

There are contrasting reviews on i-to-i courses. I think the best advice I can give is to research the various Tefl courses available before signing up. I think the most important thing is to be informed so you know if the i-to-to course is for you or not.

I found the online course to be very comprehensive (120 hours). The tutors who mark your assignments are all experienced and helpful. The online course took me 3 months to do so don’t underestimate the time needed to complete it.

It’s important to realise from the outset that this course is not comparable to the CELTA course. If you want to teach at a reputable language school in the UK you need to take the CELTA. The i-to-i tefl courses are useful for an introduction to the industry and therefore to see if it is for you or not.

You are more likely to find teaching work abroad without a CELTA than in the UK, especially if you have any kind of Degree. So for example, if you want to teach in China or perhaps Japan, and you already have a degree, then the i-to-tefl could well be useful as a foundation.

I was sceptical about taking an online course, but my fears were allayed by the extremely efficient, understanding and helpful staff at the call centre of i-to-i.

The course was to the point and fast moving. Although it required a certain amount of self-discipline, it was neither restricting nor demanding.

I could work on it at all times of the day or night, and I received replies at all times of day and night.

This certainly changed my mind about online courses and opened up a whole new world for me. I’m really glad I took the plunge and I m delighted to say that I have not looked back since. Thank you i-to-i.

I did the professional TEFL course with a 20 hour in-class component. I am now teaching ESL in South Korea and implementing all I’ve learnt from i-to-i’s TEFL course with much success!! All the kids, even the kids who were extremely naughty initially, enjoy my class. It’s clear they’re also learning a lot through the practice activities, all of which were introduced to me during the in-class component. It is unbelievable how much you can learn from a course that is run almost entirely online. I am extremely impressed with the course content and structure. The in-class component should be mandatory and highly recommended! They were long days but I gained lifelong skills from that class and it has made all the difference in how I teach in class.

Unfortunately I didn’t know there was a time limit of 3 mths on this course.. I thought atleast one year to finish

I had to pay an extra $250 to extend for another 3 mths

Though this time is not long enough and have had a lot going on during this time

Unfortunately I am unable to finish the course and don’t justify paying any more then the $500 plus $250 to extend

The course content is great but I had numerous issues, some that have been mentioned before:

1. As mentioned previously, the course is not accepted worldwide. On arrival back to Australia I was under the impression that whilst most schools want a Celta or a Delta, my qualification would still mean something. It did not. You need a minimum 120 hours Face-to-face training in your home country.

2. The internship placement, that I was connected to via i-to-i, was a nightmare. I had my passport stolen by my employer, I was placed in a rural area instead of the city I applied for, after I had paid the internship without my consent or knowledge. It was not even the same district. It was an overnight train away. I was told 20hrs pw but in fact I was working 6 days a week, 7:30-9pm on an alternating timeline. Far more than any local staff. We were forbidden from leaving our city without informing our employer. They damaged our degree’s making them legally invalid in at least two of our countries. Each complaint we made to any of the sister companies involved was brushed off as ‘culture shock’ etc. Which is not true. Some who requested were even forbidden from seeing a doctor.

3. Our face to face instructors were bizarre and inappropriate. One was racist, asking one girl where she was from because she had brown skin, “England” she replied. Her method of instruction was to role play tropes and ridiculous accents and get us to grade her English, guess where she was from etc. Really not relevant or useful, and very uncomfortable.

Other than that the content was good etc. I-to-i appeared shocked when I complained about their partner companies but I am not sure they did anything about the situation. I think it is a fine course but they need to do a great deal more research when it comes to the companies they do business with, take complaints seriously, and get rid of archaic racist instructors. They have no place in this business in 2015.

If you are looking at this course. I can recommend it but be aware it is only valid in some countries. You have to pay extra for face-to-face training that may not be relevant elsewhere and please do some serious research before taking on an internship. Don’t trust a few favourable references.

I found this course outstanding and of a much higher quality then my University teaching degree course! It was inspiring to see the competent teachers on the video who so clearly loved their profession. I found the speed with which I could access the course fantastic as so many online courses have irrelevant information on overly cluttered websites with complex login systems.

The learning structure was also excellent.

I really enjoyed the online course and thought it was very thorough. The weekend course was excellent too with a first class lecturer. It was definitely good to do all that extra – it cemented what I had learnt on the online course.
