This course was quite comprehensive. After taking this course, one can feel confident that they have at least the BASE level skills necessary to be an ESL teacher. The three modules all cover the necessary aspects, including grammar, phonology, and methodology. One may find the phonemes quite helpful in future classes, as surprisingly enough, quite a few teachers do not seem to know them.

The methodology was particularly helpful in my case. It provides a basic template for you to apply your chosen topic to, and this will allow you to structure your future classes upon this template. This is especially good for those with little or no experience teaching, as it gives them the framework to base the class upon.

I believe that this is one of the best online certifications for TESOL that you can find. The fact that it’s recognized by ACTDEC, was one of the reasons that I decided to go with this particular course. The tutor was quite helpful as well, providing plenty of in-depth feedback on each lesson and constructive criticism which I believe will be quite helpful in my future course formulations.

This was a very good 100-hour distance-learning course. I want people to know that the reason there are so many reviews for Ontesol is because after you finish the course, they kindly request that you publish a review on this site. I think this is rather important information for people who decide which course to take based on this website.

The 100 hour course itself is 3 modules of 60-100 page PDFs that you must read through and then complete specific assignments. There are no videos or multimedia, but the true strength of the course lies in the tutors. My tutor always responded within 24 hours and even during the weekends. The feedback was genuinely helpful and comprehensive.

This course does have decent standards as they don’t simply hand out the certificate. You must pass every assignment and all 3 modules to receive the cert. With that said, this is a very decent distance-learning course, however, without the in-person practicum, its value is weakened.

In terms of qualifications, generally many employers will not consider online certificates, or courses without a practical component. This course can deepen your understanding of the theory of TESOL, but it is generally not what employers are seeking in their teaching candidates. My conclusion is: base your decision on whether you are using this course to deepen your knowledge of TESOL, or to actually augment your qualifications. If it is the latter, I would explore some other options with a practical component (maybe even their 250-hour course?)

From start to finish, from administrators to instructors, I was deeply impressed with the 250-hour diploma program, and so glad I selected it. The course in its entirety was intelligently designed by an experienced group of educators. Everything about its organization seemed to flow smartly, and I could feel my depth of knowledge and capacity grow with the completion of each chapter and module. The resources provided with the course were copious and tremendously helpful — a veritable treasure trove of information for continuous reference for teachers. My instructor/tutor was really good, her experience and capability clear throughout. She was always there with the right insight and suggestion for how to improve my thought process and lesson planning. In sum, I would recommend this course to anyone.

The 100 hour course provided me with a great introduction to teaching methodology. I’ve learnt so much about how to design lesson plans, as well as how to connect with students on a very real level. The best part was having a tutor that was very accessible and provided feedback in a timely manner that helped me improve my understanding of the field of English language instruction. I would definitely recommend this course for any looking to make a start in the field.

I have had a great experience with OnTESOL’s 100-hour online program, and would definitely recommend OnTESOL to anyone looking for online TESOL certificate programs. When looking into online TESOL certificate courses, I found that there were a lot of options, and it was difficult to choose one. Upon seeing that OnTESOL’s certificate is one of the only (if not the only) certificates accredited by the UK Accreditation Council for TESOL Distance Education Courses. While that may not mean much to some, the fact that it was accredited at all made it stand out. So, I read the reviews on http://www.teflcoursereview.com/ and found a number of very positive reviews. I also specifics about the course, that it teaches and tests on grammar, phonology, and methodology, as well as teaching about general learning skills. Not only do they teach you about those things, they teach you how to teach and incorporate them into lessons.

Well, my long and arduous search for the best online course was worthwhile in the end, since I definitely made the right choice with OnTESOL. My tutor was very responsive, helpful, and positive. Also, the texts are generally very clear and practical, teaching you things you will actually use. The learning skills reminded me that learning itself is a skill, one that you can improve on. The sections on grammar and phonology were clear and informative. I have always had above-average knowledge of the English language and general linguistics, so I didn’t expect to learn much from those two sections. However, I was pleasantly surprised to learn all that I did in those two sections. As for the methodology course, they teach you how to make complete lessons plans that integrate the communicative method, showing you how to do it from the ground up. I have been teaching in different areas over the past few years, and still I learned all sorts of new and interesting things about teaching English as well as teaching in general. Along the way, my tutor, Danielle, was always there to answer any and all questions I had in regards to each section, explaining clearly and informatively, and responding in a timely manner.

With my experience in mind, I would definitely recommend this course and OnTESOL in general to anyone looking for the best online TESOL learning experience.

Even though I received my MA in English Linguistics, I still did not feel qualified enough to teach ESL when I was employed by a language academy here in the states. Therefore, I looked for an online TESOL certification program. After reading the reviews for OnTesol, I decided to go with them. I think overall the program was fine. It has been a few months since I completed the program and I do not remember much of what I did. What I found to be the most helpful though was the feedback I received from the instructor who was assigned to work with me. She was quick to respond to my emails and she provided me with very useful comments. If you need to get a 100-hour certificate, I think this program is a good choice. However, you will not actually learn until you are in the classroom.

I have to say that I was very impressed with the course. I was a bit skeptical at first because I’m a Ph.D. engineering graduate student and have never taken an online course before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I initially picked the 100 hr. ontesol course because I noticed that they included modules for grammar and phonology which many other online courses do not include. I’m glad that I got the chance to re-learn these English basics in preparation for teaching. The three modules were very thorough and interesting. The lesson planning portion of the methodology module was practical and I expect will be highly useful when I start teaching. My tutor got back to me with insightful feedback very quickly throughout the course and the admin were very responsive as well. Everything was well organized and I really have no complaints. I highly recommend ontesol if you’re serious about teaching English well.

I found this program incredibly informative, and useful. It provided a good overview of English grammar and phonetics, then backs it up with ideas how you can apply it to lesson plans. The final section, making a lesson plan, was definitely the most useful part of the program to me. It gave me tonnes of ideas on how I can teach English to a variety of different demographics, as well as provided me with a good sense of how to control the class.

The philosophy the program provided is new, and I think a very good one for both the teacher and the students. It makes sense to have the students learn how to actually use a language rather than learn it using a direct method. Furthermore, the methods shown in the lesson planning section show how to make the students more active, and, as a result, more interested in the subject at hand. I definitely like the methods that this course is promoting.

Finally, the tutor that I received was absolutely amazing. She has been doing ESL teaching for a long time, and it showed through her feedback, and advice. When I had a questions she was able to give an informative answer within a reasonable amount of time. Likewise, when it came to marking assignments she did so very efficiently, and left a lot of useful feedback. She provided comments on my assignments about ideas that I may have overlooked, or would provide me with an alternative method that I could use in the future.

Overall, I had an amazing experience with this course, and feel confident in the skills that this 100-hour online course has taught me. I would gladly recommend this course to anyone else that is interested in teaching English as a second language.

The 250hrs course was both difficult and fun because writing lesson plans using the communicative approach requires dedication and creativity. I’m very thankful for the professional support I received from my tutor, who challenged me with thought-provoking corrections.
