The one and only Language House TEFL in Prague is one of the most popular and beloved TEFL certification companies in the world. With over 20 years in operation, many of their staff have been working for the organization for over a decade. Since its establishment, TLH has strived to create a TEFL certification school that not only includes some of the most rigorous training possible, but also all of the logistical and community support for their graduates to thrive. As of 2024, they have graduated over 3000 successful teachers from their program.

The Language House TEFL is not just a training center, but a network of staff and graduates in Prague and abroad who help and support each other years after graduation. When you sign up for The Language House TEFL, you are not just getting a TEFL certificate; you are entering into a supportive community of staff and graduates who become almost like a second family. This support includes making friends abroad, finding jobs, support with accommodation, and everything in between to aid in your success.

This is one of the more intensive courses you can find. Their website and socials are filled with pics of their trainees having fun in their new home, but make no mistake, The Language House TEFL is an extremely rigorous course. After completion, you will graduate a skilled and competent teacher. They also offer online and blended TEFL courses for those who cannot make it to Prague.

I came into The Language House a month ago with zero teaching experience and most likely a worried look on my face. After TLH’s 4-week intensive course (yes, it will be intense), I feel confident in my ability to teach to adults and kids (YLT!!). Chris and the rest of the staff are amazing! They will go out of their way to help you with everything from lesson planning to housing. One of the most helpful aspects about TLH is the hands on training. In order to pass the course you have to create your own lesson plans and teach real ESL students almost every day during the last three weeks. Each week the levels change and your observers change, which was very helpful in getting a better understanding of the students abilities along with receiving a variety of feedback. Aside from all the technical components of the course itself, the thing that sets TLH above the rest is its sense of community. Chris and the past alums are constantly coordinating events and posting new job listings.

Overall, taking the TEFL course with TLH is by far one of the best decisions I have ever made.

After having studied abroad three times, in three different countries, I can honestly say that my time at The Language House was the best yet. Not only did I learn all of the skills necessary to successfully teach a class of English learners, but I also made many lifelong friends and connections. I highly recommend TLH for anyone who wants to have a very well-rounded experience in Prague. I really appreciate the way TLH got my month’s group involved with past groups and really integrated us into the circle of alum. Easing into the culture here was also very painless with the help of TLH.

I just received my TEFL certification from The Language House this past month, and choosing TLH is the best decision I could have made. I have left this course feeling well prepared to teach and received a job offer just a week after completing the course. The teachers and staff at TLH offer so much support and assistance with ANYTHING you need before, during and after you have completed the course. They truly care about the success of their students, and provide their students will all the resources, tools, and information necessary to be a successful English teacher.

In addition to this, with the extensive amount of teaching practice, I left the course feeling more than prepared to begin my journey as an English teacher. I would highly recommend this course to everyone!

I decided on this course very last minute, and I’m glad I got in. It’s a lot of work, but I really feel like it prepared me for teaching better than any other course could have. There’s lots of intensive classroom methodology training and lesson planning training, but the most important part is that there is tonnes of hands on teaching. The instructors are really great, knowledgable and very frank about their own experiences. I really felt like I was being prepared for the ‘real’ world in an environment were everyone was there to help you with whatever you needed. I am not going to lie, it was tough, but all the observers and instructors were right there to offer helpful advice or guidance.

During the course there’s lots of fun activities to do with your cohort, as well as an amazing community of Alum to help you out afterwards. There’s a great network of people all across the globe who can help you with jobs, visas, lesson planning or just hanging out. I met a tonne of great people and I’m so glad I went with the Language House.

When you do jump into your first job, you’ll be glad you had the Language House to help you become your true teacher self!

I attended TLH TEFL Prague in September of 2014. My experience with the course was absolutely fantastic. I was drawn to the course by the impeccable reviews given by alumns of the program and am glad to say that The Language House lives up to its reputation. In an intensive one month long course they will turn even someone without any prior teaching experience (like me)into a fully fledged English teacher. Students receive solid methodological training but perhaps more importantly TLH gives students extensive hands on classroom teaching experience. TLH Prague is not only a certification program but a great community that will help you make the transition to Prague and be there every step of the way helping make expat life smoother. This community continues even after you graduate from the course, TLH provides lifetime job assistance and encourage graduates to get in touch if they ever need help. Not only will you emerge from TLH as a confident English teacher but you will be part of an international network that is there for you wherever your TEFL career may lead you.

Moving to Prague and earning my TEFL certificate through The Language House is bar none the most solid decision I’ve ever made. While you can certainly earn a TEFL certificate elsewhere, TLH far surpasses other programs that merely certify you. They not only transform you into an entirely capable teacher, they give you all the resources and support you could possibly need to transition into a successful life here in Prague. The staff are all top notch human beings and are genuinely invested in your successes both during the course and afterward. The network of TLH alumni in Prague is huge and an incredible resource for jobs, events, and above all really amazing friends. My experiences with TLH have exceeded my expectations in every way, I can’t recommend them enough.

I could not have survived my move to Prague without the Language House! Orientation, all the information provided during the class, and the helpful staff and alums living in the city, helped my transition to living abroad. The class itself in intense, not as in the workload is hard, but it does take up a lot of your time. But it is only for a month and coming out of it has prepared me for anything! There is not much that can overwhelm me after having to adapt and adjust to things throughout my time in the class.

Plus I have a group of amazing people who went through this with me. I was expecting to become good friends with two or three people from my TEFL class, but I feel as if I am close with almost all of them. We had a great group and we hang out still – from game nights to attending museums and festivals. Love my August class so much 🙂

I would recommend this program to any and all of my friends! If you want to have an amazing support system already in place when you move to Prague – then the Language House is where you need to be! And you will be the most prepared and successful English teacher you can be!

I recently took the TEFL & YLT (Young Learners & Teens) courses with the Language House (TLH) in April 2014. Deciding on attending this course is something that I will not regret. The course work taught throughout the intense one-month duration equipped me to become a confident ESL instructor as well as how to lesson plan, more thorough understanding of grammar, public speaking, etc.

Prior to taking the course, I had trouble with public speaking and getting up in front of a group of students to teach. Chris, the director who interviewed me then ensured that after I’m done with the course that I’d be a more confident speaker and teaching in front of students will just be something of the past. He was correct, I’m now able to go about and teach/speak without having to think I’ll fail or make a fool of myself. One of the things I loved about the course was that it was not just all theory but it had a lot of practical work to it. I also loved the survival Czech lessons taught which I had fun with implementing when going around exploring Prague and the YLT course is something well worth the extra time & money if you are considering teaching young learners.

Apart from the course work, the TLH staff was very helpful. They were always there to help you before, during, and after the course and they still do. The TLH alumni are always around to help you out and show you a good time in Prague or abroad when need be.

Yes, the course is intense I will admit but well worth it I will say and fun at the same time. The experience gained through it is something I will cherish and I would recommend The Language House to anyone who is looking to teach English!

TLH TEFL course was very intense but beneficial. The program was very helpful in assimilating us to life in Prague. They provided a lot of great additional resources like airport transportation and survival Czech lessons. The staff members are all knowledgeable and supportive, both with regards to English and TEFL but also with regards to Prague. For the most part, I am glad I chose TLH over other TEFL certification programs.

I completed The Language House Prague course in November 2009 and it was, in short, a life-changing experience. I have spent a good bit of time in both academic and corporate environments. I know good teachers when I see them. My students have often thanked me for teaching them so well, and that is something I owe all to The Language House.

Combining the classroom instruction and real-world experience provided in the course, I’m not exaggerating when I say that you will learn as much in a month at TLH as you would in a semester at university. This is true experiential learning. You will not be writing papers; you will be practicing day after day to be an amazing English teacher.

The instruction at The Language House ranks among the best I’ve had in my entire life. The communicative methodology that the school teaches is superior to any other language instruction method developed, as it allows students to acquire fluency, proficiency, and confidence with speed and accuracy. Not only have I used these skills for TEFL, I’ve used them to teach corporate trainees other foreign languages that I speak.

The most important thing for those in the early stages of developing a career teaching abroad is that The Language House provides a strong local support system to help you adjust to your new life as an expat, and encourages a strong sense of collegiality among its students.

Not only did I develop professional contacts that helped me with my career, I met wonderful and amazing people — classmates, instructors, students, locals — who will be some of my best friends for the rest of my life. When you send and receive New Year’s greetings to a half dozen countries or more, you’ll know exactly what I mean. Attending The Language House was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
