I took the course in June 2014, I had no idea what to expect from the course when I arrived in Prague. The course was challenging at times but the instructors were great and were more than willing to help with lesson planning/anything really. TLH also has a huge network of previous in students in Prague, if you end up not teaching English then you will at least get 15+ friends out of the course. I can’t imagine being in Prague without the TLH network, this have definitely made the transition much easier.

I took The Language House course in September of 2014. When I was deciding which company to get certified through I researched every TEFL course I could find on the internet and kept coming across Chris Westergaard and The Language House of Prague. After reading review after review on his program it seemed like every sign pointed for me to come to Prague and get certified through his program. Now being all set and done, I can look back at my experience and say with confidence that I made the right choice. Chris and his staff are all extremely knowledgeable and very dedicated to preparing and helping each student with anything they need. The TLH course is 130 hours of intensive teacher training. Each week you will have Czech student teaching in the evenings. Each week the levels change and your observers change, which was very helpful in getting a better understanding of the students abilities along with receiving a variety of feedback. The hands on learning truly prepares every student for any type of teaching situation and level out there.

Aside from all the technical components of the course itself, the thing that sets TLH above the rest is its sense of community. It’s really nice knowing that even though you may be very far from home, you have a huge community of past TLH alums who are alway there to help with anything. Chris and other alums are constantly coordinating events and posting new job listings.

Overall, taking the TEFL course with The Language House in Prague is by far one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life.

I attended The Language house in June 2014 after doing a year+ research on where to get TEFL certified. I definitely made the right decision. Despite the stresses that come with getting certified (prepare yourselves for a lot of work & lesson planning) – it was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. The staff is wonderful and really create a network of people you can rely on in this beautiful city.

10/10 would recommend 🙂

I took this course in August 2014. To be honest I thought it would be extremely easy. I was on “high” from traveling over the last 6 weeks all over Europe. I also had just quit my job in America and was looking for something to do to allow me to travel abroad. This program was very intense, but I told Chris W(the owner) the second day, I knew I would be thankful in the end and I was right, I was. Chris is Extremely knowledgable in this TEFL world and well connected in the city of Prague. He and his staff are always available to help you with anything you need. Whether it be apartment hunting, job hunting, lesson planning problems, or just a shoulder to cry on when you just feel like giving up. This was also a very challenging course, but well worth doing it in person verses online because the preparation is much more valuable when you land your first teaching job! I am so grateful for signing up for the language house and going with this program over any other TEFL schools. I couldn’t be happier , and I promise you will not regret attending TLH! DO IT! 100% worth every penny 🙂

I just finished The Language House TEFL course in Prague in September. It was honestly the best decision I could have made. I was really nervous coming out to Prague but The Language House helps you every step of the way. The housing was great and in a really good location. All of the staff is completely available for any questions you have, whether it be about tefl or just living abroad in general. The course is extremely challenging but worth it. I feel very prepared for any job that comes my way. I highly recommend doing the orientation, it’s a good way to meet all of the people you will be taking the course with. Overall an amazing experience and a great way to make connections with a bunch of different people!

The Language House offers a comprehensive TEFL course that prepared even me (a complete stranger to teaching) for the job. Salient points: the course demands twelve hours of teaching practice before certification, and almost all lessons are planned from scratch, to give the trainee experience in lesson plan creation (very valuable when you get thrown into a new job).

The instructors each have a large amount of ESL teaching experience and are taught to give well-ordered, critical feedback. I don’t have anything else to say – they’re pretty good.

TLH promises lifetime job-finding help, which has led to a close-knit community of alumnae who are always available with the newest gigs.

Likewise, the facility itself is available for any alums who require a bit of internet, copy machine access, or sheer nostalgia.

The Language House is great. Everyone there is willing to help you in any way they can. The course is incredibly intense, however it is very doable. The only reason you will be unemployed after the course is over with (or in a week or two following) is because you didn’t apply for any job, or take your job search seriously.

I’ve wanted to move to Prague and teach English for several years now. After a lot of research, I finally decided on TLH and have not regretted a bit of my decision (Beware: there are a many shady Tefl centers in the city.) Months before the course even started, Chris Westergaard was very responsive and prompt with emails and pre-course information.

The course trains students with an intense grammar classes, teaching methodology, and twice the standard amount in front of a classroom. It is intimidating at first and the course is A LOT of work, but in the end it pays off. A week after the course ended, I had a full-time job. The course has a great reputation around the city so employers are usually eager to interview you on this alone.

Another way TLH can give you a jumpstart on your teaching career is the required private lessons. Combined with the Czech students we teach during the course, we also are responsible for teaching a couple one on one lessons. Many people find permanent private students as well before the course even ends.

Moving to a foreign country can be daunting, but the staff at TLH helps you in every way imagineable: social events so you don’t feel alone in the city, a partnership with a visa assistance company, and international job assistance.

I would highly advise anyone looking to either move to the Czech Republic or teach ESL anywhere in the w.orld to consider The Language House

I went through The Language House Prague in September, 2014 and am so glad I did. Obviously moving to another country and knowing not a soul is a daunting prospect, but The Language House immediately made me feel comfortable in my new home. They offer a great community for you to dive into and start making connections/friends, lifetime job support, and most importantly, they teach you how to teach- effectively! I had no idea going into the course how I was going to be able to teach English to Czechs when I don’t speak a lick of their language, but I came out of the course, after four grueling weeks (this course is not for the lazy slackers), self-assured of my abilities and ready to enter a classroom. I would absolutely 100% recommend this course!

The Language House is probably one of the greatest experience you can get with a TEFL course. Chris Westergaard literally thought he could do better than what is was available at that time and 10 years later he did! Don`t get me wrong, this is a lot of work crammed into 30 days. However, Chris and his team of minions make it worthwhile and fun. This is more than just a intensive teaching course. This is a community of people you get streamlined with. I highly recommend The Language House to anyone interested in traveling or teaching for an extended period.
