I’m very satisfied with the level of training I received from Ontesol. My director was initially very surprised by the quality of my lesson plans and how quickly I adapted to different ESL levels given that I had no prior teaching experience. The 250-hour Diploma covered everything I needed to become a good teacher. I submitted assignments when I wanted and I completed the Practicum at the school where I taught part-time this summer. This is a great course!

I took on the challenge of taking the 250-hour OnTESOL course. After looking into other programs and what they had to offer, I knew the 250-hour OnTESOL course would provide me the background I needed to feel secure in my teaching abilities.

As someone who does not have much official teaching experience, I wanted a course that would provide me extensive information on what I needed to know to become a good ESL teacher. This course definitely exceeded my expectations. The program is separated into three modules; grammar, methodology, and phonology. Each module is very thorough and easy to follow.

Working full-time, I enjoyed the flexibility of an online course. The program provided an expanse amount of time to complete each module. There were times though, where I lagged on my reading or assignments because I felt I had plenty of time to complete them. You will definitely need to have the discipline and motivation to stay on top of everything to complete the course. Fortunately, OnTESOL provides a syllabus for you to help you stay on track. It really helped me keep myself in check when I started to stray.

I was very impressed by the support I received. Having taken online courses before in college, I never got as much feedback and support by the professors like I did with my OnTESOL tutor.

I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who is serious about taking on the adventures of being an ESL teacher.

I recently began a 120 hour course with Ontesol to renew my older 80 hour certification. The course was very straightforward with clear goals to aim for in each section. The course itself features many teaching techniques, how to apply them in a classroom and what to compliment them with. The lesson plan creation section of the course which is vital to practical teaching was helped along wonderfully by instructor feedback. At each step of the lesson plan creation any questions asked would the receive prompt feedback needed to improve on my lessons. All in all Ontesol and it’s Instructors did a wonderful job and I would recommend them to anyone who wants to further their own training.

The 100-hour TESOL course vastly broadened my perspective in terms of the rigour that is required to teach English to students from a different mother tongue. While I was taking the course, I was teaching English two nights a week to Punjabi immigrants and I found what I was learned extremely helpful in the classroom. I feel much more equipped now that I have taken the course to teach effectively, and for that, I’m thankful.

I really enjoyed the 120-hour course. The best part is the practical training assignments for making lesson plans. My tutor’s feedback was speedy and accurate so I could identify my weak points. The course materials are also well organized and convenient. Thank you

I recently completed the 250-hour online course, as well as the 20-hour in-classroom component of my TESOL certification.

I didn’t know what to expect from the online course, as it was my first time learning via online course. However, the course was easy to comprehend, allowed lots of communication with your tutor, and provided lots of opportunities to practice the skills being taught. As someone who has never taught a day in their life, the step-by-step instructions on how to write lesson plans, handle classroom issues, and work with your students was incredibly useful. The fact that it was online also meant that I could complete it at my own pace, which removed a lot of the usual stress one would feel while working through a course. I did find the material to be a little dated, but it was relevant and useful nonetheless.

As mentioned above, as someone who has never taught before, actually teaching a lesson in a real classroom was crucial to the development of my abilities as a teacher. It didn’t take long to figure out that what may have worked in theory didn’t always play out the way you wanted it to in the classroom. During the 20-hour practicuum I was able to develop and improve my skills in classroom management and lesson planning. The facilities used for the practicum were professional atmospheres with motivated students, and the staff member overseeing my training was always patient and kind, yet never afraid to say exactly where improvement was needed and how to do so. By the end of my practicum, I can confidently say that I feel significantly better prepared for an actual job experience.

Overall, my experience with ONTesol was positive. All the staff I interacted with were accomodating and professional, as well as the material used in the course was relevant and easy to follow. Would definitely recommend!

I had taught for eight years before I took the 250 hour tesol diploma online. It was my first online course and I feel like it really improved my teaching and lesson planning methodology. The three theory modules are thorough, thought provoking and gel together well, providing an excellent base for the practicum. Both my online instructor and practicum tutor were outstanding and their feedback was precise, helpful and will be a source of guidance for many years to come. It was a very positive and empowering experience; highly recommended for teachers looking to specialize in ESL teaching or just looking to bolster their teaching skills.

I have just completed the 120 h course. I wasn’t sure what to expect with it being my first online learning experience, but it went really well.

The support I got was amazing; if I had a problem, they were really quick to reply.

The first two modules were easier to complete, as I had previously studied the course content in University. The third module, however, was a bit more of a struggle. The good thing is, the guidance and the feedback from the two tutors is really helpful. If you have any doubts about submitting an assignment, you can always ask more questions or have them look over a page or two first, before grading it. That was probably my favorite part about this course-the amazing feedback. You will get comments on the assignment explaining where you could improve the lesson plan, or whether an activity is suitable for that specific lesson or not.

I couldn’t rate the practice teaching and job placement sections because I didn’t use them, but other than that, this course has proven to be really helpful for me.

I just completed the 120 hour online TESOL course with business specialization. The course materials were detailed and clear. The tutors were outstanding. Both of my tutors were readily available and extremely competent. Their advice was spot-on and their critiques were very constructive. Dealing with onTESOL was easy and quick, and the office staff were as responsive and competent as the tutors.

I learned a lot, and I really didn’t expect that, as I have been an educator at both university and secondary levels in the sciences for over 30 years, having taught uni, AP and A level courses in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Biology. I honestly feel I am a better teacher as a result of this course.

This course is NOT for the faint of heart! You will work hard to earn a pass with distinction, they don’t give it away. You will come through the course with a real feeling of competence and confidence. And the course materials make a very good reference for continued value throughout your teaching career.

So why not 5 stars all around? NOTHING is perfect in this world, and if you knew how many times I have given 5 stars (or the equivalent) in any review you would know how rare it is. I would have perhaps included another graded component for student production than just the 4 lesson plans. Perhaps a written synopsis of internet research into ESL methodologies or something along those lines. I also thought the resources were a bit light on the website, but they are adding to them all the time so that will improve. The last thing is a bit of picking the nit, but I never had any access to my scores/student reports on the website, everything was blank and still is when I click on the “grades” tab for each module. No big deal, as I was apprised of my scores and progress by my tutors every step of the way, but that should be fixed.

I enthusiastically endorse the onTESOL 120 hour course, it’s worth every penny.

I completed the 100-hr certification course in May 2014 — I’m currently earning my teaching certification for teaching English at the secondary level (grades 6 – 12), and I have to say that the preparation provided by my online TESOL course was superior. The quality of feedback was superb — my tutor was an expert in teaching english as a second language, with a Master’s degree in English and a TESOL certification from Trinity University — and I continue to refer to the content I studied for the class itself, which managed to be both comprehensive, necessary (nothing superfluous) and interesting. After graduating from the course I have even been able to maintain a dialogue with my tutor and with Ontesol itself, as the organization has gone above and beyond to ensure that I am able to find employment and put my TESOL certification to good use. I cannot recommend Ontesol’s online courses more highly. They are not for those expecting an “easy” online class, or a gimme certificate that does not really mean anything. They will give you your money’s worth, which means the assignments do require your time and attention.
