I took my Trinity TESOL in Barcelona this year at Oxford House, and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The course was well balanced, interesting and most of all really fun. For me it perfectly combined the fundamental theory and knowledge of Language with genuine hands on practice teaching. Whilst I was encouraged to work independently and use my own ideas, a helping hand was never far away when needed. Moreover, regular and thorough feedback sessions enabled me to improve and develop as a teacher. I leave Oxford House not only with a TESOL qualification, but with a confidence in the classroom and a real desire to continue teaching English in the future. Thanks a lot!

I studied at Barcelona. I am very glad I chose this particular course. It was very intense, but manageable. I found the teachers very professional, supportive and passionate about teaching. Having to prepare classes was challenging, but thanks to the very thorough feedback sessions, very rewarding indeed. I also learnt about myself, my weaknesses and strengths as a teacher. As a whole, it was an unforgettable experience. I would definitely do it again.

Deciding to get my Trinity College TESOL was one of the best choices I’ve ever made. The staff were friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and gave all of us excellent feedback. The course was really difficult, but also very rewarding. I had been an ESL teacher for 4 years before I took this course and I learned much more than I expected. Having someone there to show you your strengths and weaknesses is invaluable. I would recommend this course to anyone thinking of pursuing a job in ESL.

I completed my Trinity Cert TESOL course in May 2013, I had an absolute blast and could not recommend OxfordTEFL highly enough. I completed the course in Prague and must thank Sinead for her pre-course correspondence, she was quick to reply to any queries and from accommodation to airport transfers made the whole experience as stress-free as possible. Another excellent element of the OxfordTEFl was the pre-course task which was a thorough introduction to the course, it is important to take this element seriously as it will be invaluable during the course and to pass the grammar test. This course is not for idle people, you will be doing something every evening whether that is planning lessons or writing coursework, however it is manageable if you keep on top of it from week one. The tutors are fantastic in terms of the teaching observations and the input sessions, most importantly you can have a laugh with them and there isn’t anything they won’t answer. The school in Prague is in a great location, the students are a lot of fun and they have an extensive library to aid teaching practice. Although the employment services are limited, I was put in contact with a number of ex-students who have been invaluable in helping me apply for jobs in South Korea. Finding you a job after is not really in their remit, and OT are clear about this but they gave me great help regardless.

If you’re bored and looking for a new adventure, a course at OT would be a great investment. If you are set on working in Prague then you won’t find a better route. Thanks again OT Prague for a great time!

I did my TEFL course in Barcelona in July 2012, and can safely say that the whole experience was fantastic. The input sessions were all relevant and helpful – being put in the position of a student (especially with the unknown language) to learn teaching methods from the receiving end was very beneficial. I liked the practicality of the set up and had confidence in the staff. Teaching practice started on day three, building up from twenty minutes, to thirty, to forty-five and finally a whole hour. Though I was at first terrified, feedback was constructive and I soon found my feet and started to enjoy my lessons. Sharing a class with two other people was also a good support system as we helped each other through. The course was well structured and though intense, the workload was always manageable.

Being new to Barcelona, the school’s help in finding accommodation for the month was invaluable. If I have one criticism, it would be that in hindsight I possibly would have opted to stay with a host rather than in the school flat, but that is something very minor.

Oxford TEFL is a professional and welcoming school and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to gain their qualification.

I completed the Trinity TESOL course with Oxford TEFL in Prague in May 2013. The course is quite intensive and there is a lot of information to take on, particularly in the first week. However, the teaching practice sessions are really valuable and a great opportunity to experiment with different learning strategies and activities. In total I had 375 minutes of teaching practice across the four weeks, which was ample opportunity to try different things. Often the best way to learn is through failure, and I learnt the most through the lessons that didn’t work as well. The feedback is very candid but in the nature of constructive criticism to allow candidates to improve. The written assignments alongside the teaching practice are very time-consuming if done properly but the learner profile is a valuable opportunity to analyse a student’s specific areas for improvement. All in all, a very worthwhile experience and excellent preparation for a future TEFL role.

I completed the TEFL course in Barcelona last July. The 4 week course was intense but it gave me the tools and the confidence that I needed to start my new career in teaching. The training staff were very helpful and supportive. The course content was relevant and timely, allowing me to pull all the pieces together in order to deliver an effective lesson. What was also effective was how we were thrown straight into the teaching practice. This helped me to overcome any nerves as I didn’t have the time to think about it. Feedback was provided throughout the course so I knew exactly were I was and what areas I needed to focus on. I was also very grateful for the help that was provided to me when I was looking for my first teaching position in Barcelona. I think without the help of the staff at Oxford House this would have been quite difficult for me, especially as I was new to the city and the profession. All in all a great experience for me and I would recommend Oxford House in Barcelona to anyone who is thinking of doing the TEFL.

From the first phone call and interview right through to the end of the course, my expectations about Oxford TEFL being a supportive, friendly yet also professional environment to do the TESOL certificate were exceeded. Staff are enthusiastic and provide an excellent example of the teaching methodology and standards sought. They are on hand to guide you through the lesson planning process and provide valuable feedback at the end of every class.

I had a great experience with Oxford TEFL and would highly recommend it to anybody thinking of taking the certificate in this wonderful city.

Oxford House BCN:

It was a pleasure to learn how to teach English while completing my CertTESOL in Barcelona during August of 2012. Upon my friend’s recommendation, I decided to learn now to teach my first language here in Barcelona. From my interview to my last exam, I found the centre and the staff to be beyond helpful, happy, and intelligent.

Going to the Girona Centre every day to learn something new was so much fun. Ana was very kind and helpful with lesson planning, Regina was great with career placement, and Duncan, the director, was very approachable and open. These are all pluses when it comes to learning in my experience. These mentors and other colleagues of mine helped me learn how to find the heart of each class so as to activate each student of mine.

The training that any teacher receives is a gift, and I hope that you can enjoy just that if you so desire to advance your career teaching English here in Barcelona. Smiles, sunshine, and smart people await you at Oxford TEFL Barcelona.

I am delighted to write about attending and completing the TESOL at Oxford TEFL Barcelona.

The TESOL qualification is a very high standard, respected world wide and the personal contact from Oxford House staff before the course helped me make the decision to enroll. The teaching staff are always helpful and understanding with any problems connected to the course work or teaching practice.

Course content was in depth covering many aspects and different levels of teaching such as: one to one, business , children and adult learners. Most importantly the course taught us how different people learn, letting them find their own path to learning and watching enthusiasm blossom.

Practice teaching was a great help with colleague and self appraisal (which the Brits are not so good at) yet it gave confidence and encouragement. Feedback from teaching staff verbal and written was always positive and professional, pushing us to improve when necessary. Lesson planning and sticking to the plan within the time limits was a steep curve. We learnt to engage the students, leave them to study and absorb, then activate the lesson, closely mentored by Oxford House staff

The school is light and airy with study facilities equipment to making learning learning aids (such as picture cards). Oxford House are now helping me to apply for a teaching position and not forgetting Barcelona is a great city to study in, after a hard day or burning the midnight oil with assignments you can step into a friendly bar or explore the city sites.
