I had been living in Barcelona for a year when I decided to do the TEFL-course and I am so glad that I did! Initially, I was a bit concerned about the job opportunities for non-native English teachers, but thanks to Oxford house’s excellent career service, I was working as an English teacher a week after finishing the teacher training. If you do well in the course, you’ll have no problem finding a teaching job in this amazing city, whether you’re a native speaker or not. I was and am still very impressed by the professionalism of the teachers at Oxford house, by their extensive experience and the way they support their trainees. I for one can’t imagine a better place to start your career as an English teacher.

I completed the Oxford Tefl course in February 2013 in Barcelona and could not be happier with the experience i had. The course was great in terms of teaching the trainees the fundamentals of teaching and learning languages, and i feel that it thoroughly prepared all the trainees in meeting the demands and expectations of working in tefl. The course content was very useful and i genuinely learnt a lot during the four weeks and the facilities were excellent as there were quality computers and projecters in all my classrooms.

However, The aspect that stood out the most for me was the encouragement and enthusiasm of the tutors, who gave excellent feedback and helped the trainees significantly improve their teaching skills in such a short period. Furthermore, the career service was excellent and managed to get me some interviews by the end of the course, and i quickly found paid work thereafter.

Overall i would thoroughly recommend the Oxford Telf Barcelona course to anyone who is interested in teaching english.

I completed the Oxford TEFL course in January in Barcelona, following my move to the region. The course was intense in terms of the volume of work, so be prepared for that, but I expect that would be true of any TEFL course. I found the course extremely fulfilling and good fun, and as long as you organise yourself and stay on top of things, it is manageable. The course itself was very well organised and coordinated, and the tutors and director were always on hand for advice and feedback. There is a very useful career service, which is available during the course, and indefinitely following completion. In fact all the staff at the training school were very helpful and always made time to help with whatever was needed. It was a good atmosphere and I met some great people, and I also discovered how much I enjoy teaching. Overall, it was a very positive experience.

Choosing a TEFL certification course in 2012, I found a great opportunity: a combined program in Cadiz, Spain: 1 month of Spanish and 5 weeks of Trinity TESOL course. The place is perfect for taking such an intense course: while you have kilometers of beautiful beaches to unwind after a week of hard work, the town itself is very quiet, cozy and much less stressful than cities like Barcelona, etc. Nothing will distract you from learning- but you can always take your time by the Atlantic Ocean.

The tutors in Cadiz couldn’t be more skilled and inspiring: a great team of professionals with different (but not contradicting) approaches to teaching and personalities. The amount of support during teaching practice was sufficient and the feedback made our development easier and more conscious.

The only drawbacks worth mentioning were: no wifi in the shared flats provided (the school had wifi, and there is free public wifi on some squares, but it’d be helpful to have it in handy) and not very informative career service: it didn’t help include any special tips that could help me as a non-native speaker and a non-EU citizen.

Anyway, I would highly recommend the course for all the people who want to enjoy learning – and teaching in sunny Spain.

Whilst this place may not have all the whistles and bells of other places in terms of technology: these guys give more bang per buck than I’ve ever seen in over 15 years of adult education (albeit in a different sector). The quality of the feedback and instruction was second to none, all of the staff were friendly, knowledgable and up for a laugh and, despite being one of the ONLY independently and officially accredited places in Prague, there was no false sense of elitism or pompousness: simply a quiet air of confidence that came across in the competence and professionalism of the tutors.

I was also hugely impressed by the job placement and careers support offered. Whilst I had no need to use this service I know that all of the guys that DID use it had interviews and job offers before the course had finished.

A great experience: hard work, good times and an award worth its weight in gold anywhere in the world. . . need I say more?

I took the January 2013 course in Prague, and it was fantastic. It was very intense, but also tons of fun!

I got a lot of practice time with actual students, which was great because I’d never taught before. I also felt like the teachers were EXTREMELY knowledgable not just about practical teaching but about educational theories, etc. OxfordTEFL has a communicative focus, which is exactly what the schools I’ve interviewed with here in Prague are looking for. They also have great job support, especially as you look for work after the course. Sinead’s help has been invaluable, and through her I have had several interviews. The location is also fantastic. As are their supporting materials- OHP, computers and dictaphones, ample printer/copier access, digital projectors, etc.

They also offer intensive post-course classes in Business English, Teaching Young Learners, and Technology in the Classroom. These courses also look great on a resume and are very helpful!

Overall, I’d definitely recommend OxfordTEFL in Prague for anyone who wants to teach English as a foreign language.

I completed the Trinity CertTESOL course with Oxford TEFL in January 2013 in Barcelona. What a wonderful program! The tutors were so knowlegeable and helpful. Anna, Neil, and Cat were just great. You can tell they really care about what they’re doing, and they’re so experienced! You are thrown right into teaching on day 2 which is a bit intimidating, but you learn by doing! They are right there to help you lesson plan and answer any questions. Coming in to the program, I had zero experience teaching and did not know what to expect. After only 4 (INTENSIVE) weeks I feel completely confident that I can teach English to non-native speakers. The support from the staff was there from day one, and the lifelong career resources are invaluable. I feel that so many doors have opened for me now due to this program. And, most importantly, it’s FUN! Thanks, Oxford!

I have recently completed my TESOL course at Oxford House, Barcelona and would highly recommend it!

Although the course was intense (as promised!), it was rewarding and the best way to experience teaching English. Students are allowed ample teaching practice, receiving close guidance and advice in planning lessons, and thorough feedback after classes to help improve teaching skills.

The support is wonderful: there is always someone to ask for advice and query and questions which might occur throughout the our weeks. In addition, the career service is helpful at providing advice and tips upon completing the course: the help we received designing our CVs was invaluable.

Therefore I would highly recommend OxfordTEFL to help anyone who wishes to gain their TESOL certificate.

After extensive research and comparisons regarding course price, resources, staff friendliness and help, location, course content etc, I chose Oxford TEFL (in Prague, 2007) as it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for.

From the moment we started the course, I was made to feel welcome and comfortable on the school/teaching premises and was also given invitations to various social events around Prague, organised occasionally by the school and also by other students.

The teacher trainers, and the office staff were among the kindest, most enthusiastic people I have ever come across, which made the whole course a highly positive and motivating experience for myself and my fellow students. When difficulties arose, they were catered to efficiently and carefully, which I believe, helped each individual student get the most out of the course.

I highly recommend Oxford TEFL to anyone wishing to delve into the world of English teaching as an exceptional place to study and a great group of people to learn from.

I have just finished studying at Oxford House in Barcelona and can safely say that it has been one of the most positive experiences of my life.

The centre is situated in an exciting part of the city that offers a wide selection of bars and shops. A late-running metro station that can take you to anywhere in Barcelona is only a few meteres away. As a non-Spanish speaker, I had been worried about finding my way about and living effectively in the city for a month. My concerns were quickly brushed aside, however, as the people of Barcelona were happy to offer their assistance.

Simply put, the staff at the centre are 100% dedicated to you succeeding. They offer trainees invaluable lesson-planning guidance, sharpen their understanding of the English language and offer them concise feedback after each teaching session. Moreover, no trainee is alienated upon gaining their TESOL certificate. Oxford House’s fantastic career’s office enables trainees to network with teachers across the globe and gives them CV advice long after completing the course.
