The one and only Language House TEFL in Prague is one of the most popular and beloved TEFL certification companies in the world. With over 20 years in operation, many of their staff have been working for the organization for over a decade. Since its establishment, TLH has strived to create a TEFL certification school that not only includes some of the most rigorous training possible, but also all of the logistical and community support for their graduates to thrive. As of 2024, they have graduated over 3000 successful teachers from their program.

The Language House TEFL is not just a training center, but a network of staff and graduates in Prague and abroad who help and support each other years after graduation. When you sign up for The Language House TEFL, you are not just getting a TEFL certificate; you are entering into a supportive community of staff and graduates who become almost like a second family. This support includes making friends abroad, finding jobs, support with accommodation, and everything in between to aid in your success.

This is one of the more intensive courses you can find. Their website and socials are filled with pics of their trainees having fun in their new home, but make no mistake, The Language House TEFL is an extremely rigorous course. After completion, you will graduate a skilled and competent teacher. They also offer online and blended TEFL courses for those who cannot make it to Prague.

I took this course in late 2012 and then spent the next year doing a job I adored, teaching English as a foreign language to adult students. What made the job fun was the excellent preparation I received during my TEFL course, which had many more supervised teaching hours than were required for the accreditation, and which taught me to creatively plan my own lessons without need for textbooks as a crutch. Now, back in USA in a programming job, I still use the skills to plan a lesson sometimes if I will present on a subject to other programmers. Would recommend this course to anyone. Through facebook and friends still there, I can see it is still going very well.

I would 100% recommend The Language House to anyone who is interested in pursuing a TEFL certificate. Before my course in April, I had never even been to Europe and was definitely unsure of what to expect. The second you arrive in Prague you are looked after. From having a ride to take you from the airport to your accommodation (with a fun little sign with your name on it!) to the amazing orientation experience, you never have the time to feel nervous or out of place.

The orientation was definitely a highlight for me. It made the experience so much more than just getting a certificate. We saw so much of Prague and had time to bond with the group before getting into the course material, which was so beneficial! You’re definitely going to make friends and it makes it so much easier when you’re lesson planning or studying and need extra support. Plus it’s great to have instant travel buddies for weekend trips!

The course material itself was really interesting. The instructors are all great at what they do and are eager to help you. You’ll have tons of practice time before the end of the program so that by the end you’ll feel completely prepared to teach. In addition to the standard TEFL certificate, you can also choose to take courses for the Young Learners/Teens Certificate, which I highly recommend. It was a lot of fun to act like a kid again and Adrienne is an amazing teacher!

Overall, my experience at TLH was incredible. I had an unfortunate incident happen during my stay in Prague and Chris, Skip and the entire staff were (and still are) so so compassionate and helpful. You will always have someone who is willing to help you, no matter what you’re going through during your time with TLH. I can’t recommend it enough!

If you’re looking to venture to Prague to TEFL your heart out, this is the place for you. The Language House’s staff is so unique and so creative – they’ll push you to your limits for the best TEFL experience possible. The course is a mix of instruction time and daily hands-on teaching experience – much more teaching experience than is found in other TEFL programs. The course is an excellent way to get TEFL certified and to meet amazing new people in Prague. Highly recommended!

This course offers a great learning experience to anyone who wants to teach abroad. Without close to any teaching experience, I quickly absorbed and practiced teaching many different levels of English students. In the first part of the day we went to class and learned about teaching methodology and in the second part of the day (Monday through Thursday) we each taught a forty-five minute English class. In our free time we lesson planned and explored as much of the city as we could.

Completing this program was one of the best decisions I ever made. I never taught before the course, and it was really tough. But I learned so much. I got plenty of jobs upon graduating – thanks to the help of the wonderful staff and career assistance. i am now a confident teacher. And Prague is the best place to live.

Thanks so much TLH for making my dreams of living abroad a reality!!

This course has great teachers and great staff! They care about how you do and help you get there. The course is challenging but all worth it in the end to be able to live abroad and work. I highly recommend The Language House TEFL course to anyone who is a traveler at heart!

The Language House in Prague is an amazing school and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in getting your TEFL certification. The staff does an excellent job of preparing you to teach in the real world and they genuinely care about your success and happiness. The school is very well organized and the staff is very knowledgeable. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I was a little nervous about taking the leap and moving to Prague to become a teacher, but the Language House helped the transition tremendously.

I attended the Language House TEFL course this past August and I can honestly say it was one of the most rewarding decisions I have ever made. Moving to a foreign country can be extremely stressful, but the Language House is so welcoming and the staff does everything they can to help you find a job and feel confident moving forward with English grammar and lesson planning skills. The course is challenging, but very successful in transforming you into a creative and engaging teacher. I have nothing but positive feedback for this course and recommend it to anyone looking to teach English as a foreign language.

I took the course at TLH September 2012, and have since watched TLH grow a lot. Moving to a foreign country was a big challenge, and having TLH there to help was immeasurable to what would be a successful three years living and working in Prague. Not only did TLH prepare me professionally for teaching English in Prague through a well designed curriculum, but also continued to assist me even after the course finished with job placement and hosting social events which led me to make lifelong friends.

You’ll be nervous moving to the Czech Republic. But The Language House goes above and beyond to make your transition to Prague painless and enjoyable. It was here at TLH that the best three years of my life began, and I can’t thank the staff there enough for that.

I took The Language House course in October 2013, and have lived in Prague ever since. This course not only gave me the resources and pertinent knowledge needed to teach English, it introduced me to friends in the city that have made this experience one of the best in my life. TLH also helped me find a job with my current employer. The director of TLH, Chris Westergaard, continues to be an incredibly helpful contact in the city.
